Roofing is the one trade where you never get to inspect what you paid for. So here is who we are, what we can prove, and how we quote.
Premier Roofing is a family run business working out of Shadoxhurst, just outside Ashford. It is run by Ken Perkins, who has over ten years in the roofing trade, and it is the same people who quote the job, do the job and come back if something is not right.
We cover ten towns across Romney Marsh, the coast and inland Kent. That is a small patch on purpose. It is why we can be out to a leak the same day, and it is why we know that a roof at Lydd and a roof in Ashford need two different specifications rather than one price list.
We work on houses, on commercial property and on insurance jobs, and we are fully insured with the public liability certificate available on request. Between us we list 44 separate roofing skills, which matters less as a number than as the practical thing behind it. A roof that needs ridge tiles, a chimney repointed and the guttering sorted is one visit and one quote rather than three trades and three waits.
How we quote, and why it is itemised
Two quotes for the same roof can describe completely different work. One might strip back to the rafters and refelt, the other might lay new tiles over a membrane that has already gone, and on paper they can look like the same job at two prices.
So ours is itemised in writing and sets out what is actually going on the roof rather than only what it costs. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. On any full re roof we raise building regulations sign off with you at quote stage, rather than after the scaffold is up, because it is far easier to plan for than to discover.
Free quotes, no obligation, itemised in writing
Fully insured, public liability certificate on request
The one thousand pound workmanship guarantee through Checkatrade
Stainless fixings as standard on exposed coastal work
Building regulations sign off raised at quote stage
Domestic, commercial and insurance work
24 hour call out for genuine emergencies
Photographs of what we find, taken on the roof
Two roofs, half an hour apart, two specifications
Sheltered, inland Ashford
Galvanised fixings
Perfectly sound here, and cheaper. Spending more would be spending for the sake of it.
Exposed, Lydd and Dymchurch
Stainless fixings
Quoted as standard rather than as an upgrade, because the cheaper option does not survive out here.
Salt off the Channel corrodes ferrous metal far faster than ordinary damp air. We have taken tiles off roofs on the coast after nothing more than a breezy week, purely because the nails holding them had rusted through. That is a specification failure, not a tile failure.
If a roofer quotes the same specification for a Lydd bungalow as for a sheltered terrace in town, they either do not know the difference or have not priced for it.
Every roofer says they are trusted and reliable, so the words on their own are worth nothing. These two are worth something because neither of them is ours to edit. Both link out, so you can go and read them somewhere that is not our website.

Anyone can write nice things about themselves on their own website. We did too. These are not ours to edit, which is the point.
Ken and Charlie re roofed our maisonette after having a bad leak and arranged for other work to be done for us which they also were involved. Everything that was done was to a high standard. He kept us informed regularly, was tidy and very reliable. I personally would highly recommend this man.

Had these guys come to do a moss removal job. Fantastic work, cleared all the moss using the safer method of doing it by hand rather than pressure washer. Cleared up after themselves and roof now looks much better. Highly recommended and we're going to use them again to bring the fascias and soffits up to scratch and do a couple of minor roof repairs next.
